Machynlleth General Election Hustings — Multicamera Livestream
Ahead of the 2024 General Election, Machynlleth hosted a public hustings for candidates standing in Montgomeryshire and Glyndŵr, giving local voters an opportunity to hear directly from the people seeking to represent the constituency in Parliament.
I provided the multicamera livestream production, covering the six candidates on stage alongside questions and reactions from the audience. The production combined a wide view of the full panel with a manned long-lens camera for individual candidates and audience questions, plus additional camera angles around the hall.
The event was streamed live to YouTube, with the production managed through vMix, including live camera switching, audio, graphics and programme output. Questions could also be submitted online ahead of the event, extending participation beyond those able to attend in person.
With a large panel, audience participation and a fully bilingual Welsh and English format, the technical setup needed to provide comprehensive coverage while remaining unobtrusive within a busy school hall.
The result was a complete live record of the hustings, allowing voters across the constituency to follow the discussion remotely as it happened and watch it back afterwards.
