Operation Dead Air — Remote Livestream Production
Operation Dead Air was a live wildlife investigation from Cyprus, presented by Chris Packham and Megan McCubbin, documenting the illegal trapping and killing of migratory birds.
While the presenters and production crew worked on location in Cyprus, I operated remotely from Wales as the vMix Livestream Technical Director, taking incoming feeds from the field and producing the live broadcasts.
The production involved changing locations, mobile filming and live investigative work, so the workflow had to remain flexible and reliable. I managed the live programme output, switching between feeds, handling audio and programme elements, and responding in real time as events developed.
The project demonstrated how a complex live production can be split across countries, with the location team concentrating on filming while the technical direction and livestream production are handled remotely.
